Areas of Expertise

Commercial

We provide electrical services for industrial facilities such as factories, manufacturing plants, warehouses, and large-scale operations. Their services are more complex and tailored to the unique needs of heavy-duty industrial systems.

We have a long history of providing electrical services for office buildings, banks, retail, churches, gymnasiums and recreation centers, and other commercial properties. Commercial projects range from upfit and remodel to large complex projects including expansion, new construction, and partial demolition.

Water & Wastewater Treatment Infrastructure

Wilson & Cofield has experience working on water and wastewater treatment plants dating back to 1997. We understand the complex nature of these projects and take pride in our ability to think through and solve challenging problems.

Pump Stations

Through years of experience, we know these projects are complex and not all electrical contractors understand what is needed for different situations.  Here are some examples of where our approach focuses on these specific requirements and conveys our knowledge of what it takes to deliver a high-quality solution:

  • Supply and install the aluminum weather hood per local jurisdiction requirements.

  • Utilize PVC coated rigid conduit on stub ups and 90s when penetrating concrete slabs.

  • Form and pour the equipment pad for the generator. Depending on the size of the unit, some jurisdictions in Eastern NC require sidewalks and platforms.

  • Coordination with the generator supplier to obtain the correct generator and ATS. This includes, but not limited to, the correct NEMA rating, sound attenuation, controls, fuel tank, etc.

  • Coordination with local controls systems integrators and pump suppliers to ensure we have all the required raceways and wires for the PCP, RTU, and transmitters that are not always shown on the plans.

  • Strong understanding and working relationships with the local municipalities to comply with JHA code inspection and water/wastewater inspectors to accept the pump station.

  • Paying attention to the details of the NEC code while working in and around class 1 division 2 locations. Ensuring all hardware is stainless steel. Having the proper seal offs, air gaps, and strain relief for the pump and float cables.

  • Prioritizing the details of the closeout package and paperwork at the beginning of projects. We prioritize the final documentation, O&Ms, panel schedules, spare parts list, labels, startup and commissioning, and temporary power needs to avoid any delays at the end when trying to get the town to take over the station.

  • Providing the correct arc flash and coordination services for all new equipment. Staying up to date with life safety standards and electronic trip breakers to avoid costly adders in the submittal process.

  • Providing proper grounding and lightning protection for new buildings.

Industrial

Backup Power & Generators

We have experience installing Kohler, Generac, Caterpillar, Cummins, and MQ generators. We will work with the generator supplier to ensure that we have the correct generator as well as appropriate ATS for the situation.

Arc Flash & Electrical Safety

We specialize in identifying, preventing, and mitigating the risks associated with arc flash hazards in electrical systems. Our services include risk assessment and arc flash studies.

We deliver detailed arc flash assessments and provide cost-effective solutions for short-term and long-term arc flash mitigation. We create and evaluate comprehensive computer models of existing electrical systems and provide updated AutoCAD single lines for document control. Our certified electrical safety trainers help meet OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart S and NFPA 70E requirements and carry the burden of electrical safety in your facility so you can focus on your best business output.

Protect your systems and staff by using infrared thermography with arc flash studies to better determine when equipment is about to fail or requires maintenance. With thermal imaging, you can assess and monitor issues without disrupting systems.
